Information For Authors

AMJ (Advanced Medical Journal) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal of the Kurdistan Higher Council of Medical Specialties published biannually. It welcomes contributions to new medical subjects from all parts of the world. Articles on clinical, basic scientific, or laboratory investigations of relevance to medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy come within the scope of its publication. Original articles, case reports, brief communications, and letters to the editor are all considered. Submitted material is received for evaluation and editing on the understanding that it has neither been published previously, nor it will (if accepted) be submitted for publication elsewhere.

For authors who are interested in submitting to this journal, we recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies, as well as the Author Guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal before submitting or if already registered can simply log in and begin the five-step process. The 1st step is to pay 250,000 IQD to the finance department, 3rd-floor KHCMS as a publication fee and to get a code for the article. Then after, the article will be processed for evaluation.

Ethical consideration:

When human investigations or animal experiments are part of the study, the work design has to be approved by a local ethics committee. Author(s) must submit a statement of approval on the ethical aspect of their research which should be written after the material and methods.

Preparation of the manuscript:

Manuscripts should conform to the AMJ style. The article should be less than 11 - A4 pages including the title page. The paper should be typewritten or printed, in 1.0 spacing on A4 papers (21x29.7cm) with a margin of at least 3cm above and bottom and 2cm on the sides of the pages. Typing is in the Times New Roman font (black color only) with no italic style, or underlining, and the font size is as follows:

1- Font (size 16 bold) for the title of the article.

2- Font (size 14 bold) for the main headings.

3- Font (size 12 bold) for any subheading.

4- Font (size 12 No bold) for the text of the article.

5- Font (size 11 No bold) for the contents of the Tables and legends (Figures). 

6- Font (size 12 bold) for the author's name and font (size 10 No bold) for the affiliation. 

No part of the text other than abbreviations and/or subtitles shall be written in capital letters. Header/footer notes, end notes, lines drawn to separate the paragraphs or pages, etc. are not acceptable. The manuscript and illustrations should be submitted online and must not exceed a maximum of eleven pages (including the title page). The author(s) should give signed consent for publication.

The article structure:

 Articles should be set out as follows, each section beginning on a separate page:

Title of the article:

Should give the information on the title of the article, initials, name, scientific degree, affiliation, and the email of all the contributors with the identification of the corresponding author, only asterisks *   **   *** should be used to specify the contributors (No need for commas to separate the contributor's names) and all contributor names should come in one line.

Abstract page: 

Should include a brief statement about each of the main sections of the article (background and objectives, methods, results, and conclusions). It should not exceed 250 words, and keywords should be included, starting with capital letters separated by commas and arranged alphabetically. 

Text page(s): 

Should include: Introduction (350-600 words), Materials and Methods, Ethical approval statement, Statistical analysis, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, conflict of interest, and Acknowledgment (if any).

Reference page(s): 

All authors are responsible for the accuracy of their references. The AMJ reference sequence should be observed, (The reference number should be fixed after the full stop or comma if any, superscripted and with no brackets), In the reference section the reference must be written in the following order: name(s), initials, the title of the paper, the name of the journal, year (  ); volume( ): first and last page number(??-??). And each reference should end with a full stop. If more than six authors, only the name of the first six authors plus et al. should be quoted. The list of references should be in the same order as their appearance in the text (Vancouver style). No italic style, bold, or color fonts are allowed.  Reference to periodicals, books, book chapters, and web links should be set out as in the following examples:

Periodicals:

Tables and figures: 

Each Table should be placed accordingly in results and numbered in Arabic numerals (Start in capital letters and only the number should be within a bracket and only the word Table (     ) should be bold. e.g.: Table (     ), Figure (   ) with no bold font or shading table background. They should be preceded by a short description of the most important findings in the tables, the table tile should come above the table. The same is applied to the Figures which should be unmounted but the figure's title should be below the corresponding figure. 

 

Illustrations: 

Photographs and radiographs should be submitted in half-plate prints (17x11cm). Arabic numerals should be given to number the illustrations with their titles should come below in an editable word template (Not as a shortcut) and patient eyes if present should be shielded.

Case Report:

Should not exceed 600 words, 3 illustrations, and 3-4 references. The section should be: Case Report; Comment and References. For more information, you can download the AMJ submission template
